Book "Pilze selbst anbauen in Haus und Garten" from Nicola Krämer

Book "Pilze selbst anbauen in Haus und Garten" (Mushroom cultivation in the home and garden) by Nicola Krämer and Jolanda Englbrecht, Ulmer Verlag, 192 pages, 161 colour photos and various drawings. First published in 1987 under the title "Pilzanbau in Haus und Garten", this new edition, completely updated by Nicola Krämer, is now available in German. The author is the owner of the online shop www.shii-take.de.

The book describes 27 species of mushrooms and various cultivation methods (mushroom cultivation on wood, on straw, straw pellets, straw bales, wood shavings, compost, coffee grounds and ready-made cultures). The author gives many valuable hints to avoid failures. For example, she describes how to test the quality (vitality) of mushroom spawn yourself and what to look for when selecting the wood. The book also contains an introduction on how to propagate mushroom spawn (a simple mushroom lab). The right time to harvest and how to judge the freshness of mushrooms when buying them in the supermarket are also discussed. Nicola Krämer's experience of more than 20 years has been incorporated into this book. The book contains valuable tips for beginners and much additional information for commercial cultivation too. Numerous pictures in the book are also from Ms Krämer. Unfortunately, it is only available in German.
