Mushroom cultivation with innoculated plugs
Innoculated plugs, also called mushroom plugs, are wooden dowels with the mushroom mycelium growing inside of them. They can be used to innoculate logs and grow mushrooms outdoors. Setting up a mushroom garden is a great hobby and expands your vegetable garden. This is how it works: Drill holes in the logs, hammer in the mushroom plugs, store the logs in a moist place and wait for the initial growth phase of several months. Once the mycelium has grown into the logs, the first harvest will soon follow. Fresh mushrooms can be harvested from these mushroom logs for many years until the wood has decomposed.
Edible mushrooms that can be grown on logs in the garden
The most popular types of mushrooms for growing at home include oyster mushrooms and shii-take. However, you can also cultivate native wild mushroom species such as the changeable agaric mushroom with our mushroom plugs. You can see our extensive range in the menu on the left. For each of the mushroom species you will also find important information on which types of wood are particularly suitable.
Inoculation plugs, pack sizes
Our smallest packs of mushroom plugs contain 50 dowels of one type of mushroom. This allows 3-4 pieces of wood to be innoculated, which is a worthwhile minimum number for one type of mushroom (more is of course always possible ....). We also offer bulk packs of 400 or 1000 inoculation plugs for some mushroom species. So if you want to grow mushrooms on a larger scale, you will benefit from our favourable bulk packs. Of course, instructions are always included.
